Thermal Properties of Some Nitrogen Ligated Complexes of Co(II)

The thermal behaviour of some nitrogen-ligated complexes of 2-Guanidmobenzimi­dazole (GBM), 1,2 dimorpholinoethane (DME), 1,3 dimorpholinopropane (DMP) with Co(II) have been studied by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. Complete decomposition of the chelates, obtained from the above Iigands, was accomplished generally in two stages. All DMP comp­lexes studied in the prellent investigations were found to be thermally less stable than the corresponding DME complexes. While most of the GBM and DME complexes were obllerved to be of comparable sta­bility. The differential thermal analysis of Co(ll) complexes are also reported. The reaction found in DTA curves corresponded to those found in the TGA curves.read more

Solvolysis of Some Substituted Benzonorbornenyl Derivatives

The epimeric alcohols Salts and 12a14a have been synthesized and the solvolysis of their p-toluenesulphonates has been investigated. A small accellaration in the rate ratio for the exo/ endo epimers has been observed, explained on the basis of the cation IV. No steric effects have been observed due to the introduction of the methyl group as is evident in the solvolysis of 12a14a de­rivatives. read more

Specrtophotometric Determination of Ephedrine with Ninhydrin

A new convenient and highly sensitive method for micro-amounts detennination of ephedrine with ninhydrin is reported. Details of the working conditions for the method are discussed. The Beer-Lamberts' law is effectively obeyed in ephedrine concentration range of 4-36 ~gJml. The method has also been used for detennination of ephedrine in ephedrine hydrochloride tablets and ephedrine sulphate injections and the results are found consistent.read more

Studies on Achras Sapota. Part 1. The amino acids and carbohydrates contents of the fruits of Achras Sapota

The amino acids and carbohydrates present in the fruits of Achras sapota have been extracted and identified. The 95, 85 and 70% ethanol extracts afforded the mono- and dissacharides alongwith amino acids, while stepwise extraction with water at room temperature, hot water. ammo­nium oxalate and sodium hydroxide solutions gave the polysacdlarides. The mono- and disaccharides were identified as glucose, fructose, sucrose,lactose and galacturonic acid. The m~or constituents of the polysaccharides were galactose, galacturonic acid and arabinose with rhamnose and xylose as minor constituents.The amino acids found to be present were arginine, aspartic acid, alanine, isoleucine, leucine, glutamic acid, glycine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, proline, hydroxyproline, threonine. taurine. tyro­sine. serine, valine, phosphoethanolamine alongwith urea.read more
